Toby founded Ethical Tutors in 2015. He has a first class Maths degree & PGCE from Leeds University, 10 years secondary school Maths teaching experience, & a current enhanced DBS disclosure. He also set exciting maths problems for the UK Maths Challenge for several years.
Toby on passion for Maths. “I love Mathematics, and sharing it with others. I hope that one day every young person will be able to love and understand maths, and will have access to learning maths in a way that empowers them as people and helps them develop ethics that are meaningful to them and come from their own heart.”
In addition to this he is a highly qualified IYENGAR® Yoga Teacher, to Intermediate Junior Level 3. He practises yoga for several hours each day, which brings great patience to his teaching, and a kindness for each student as an individual. From this he acts as a role-model of his personal ethics, encouraging students to find their own values, rather than enforcing his. He is also a qualified first aider in the workplace (2009, 2012, & 2015).
In his spare time, as well as doing yoga, Toby loves rock climbing and making music. You’ll probably use some of his amazing maths songs in your sessions, and he co-runs a local open mic night called The Furry Mic. To help local young people from less privileged backgrounds he runs a free rock climbing club for a local primary school.
You will see from the testimonials from parents, students and colleagues that his teaching is something very special.
