With maths maps it really is a game of Steps & Ladders!
Maths is totally wonderful, and it all makes sense if you have it explained to you properly (see Einstein quote). So we work with understanding maths, and loving maths follows naturally.
We’ve turned maths into a visual map, that groups the topics (which we call steps) together in a helpful way. The vertical (up and down) groups are called ladders, labelled on the bottom step of each ladder. They list groups of related topic (or steps) from basic building blocks on the bottom step, to the most sophisticated at the top. We use the maps both for planning learning and for assessing learning.
